Doreen Athnos - Voice Instructor

Doreen Athnos comes to Reed Music Studios following a 34-year career as a vocal music educator in the La Crosse area. She received her Master’s Degree in Education with an emphasis on choral conducting, and her Bachelor Degree in General and Choral Music Education from the University of Wisconsin - La Crosse. Doreen completed training with the Voice Care Network at St. John’s University and served as the WSMA Honors Treble Choir Alto II Vocal Coach (4 years) and Coordinator (2 years) for the State Honors Music Project. 

 

Doreen was the K-12 vocal/general music teacher in Arcadia, WI for four years prior to coming to the La Crosse School District in 1992. She taught general music and directed the choirs/show choir at Logan Middle School for 18 years and made the transition to Logan High School in 2010. At Logan High School, Doreen directed 4 curricular choirs, an acapella choir - Fermata Nowhere, and the competitive show choirs - Classy Ladies and The Class Act. Her students were highly active in WSMA festivals and Solo and Ensemble at the district and state level. Her choirs have performed with the Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra, The King Singers, Calmus, La Crosse Chamber Chorale, UW - La Crosse Concert Choir, UW - Milwaukee Concert Choral, as well as other area H.S. choirs and throughout the community.

 

Doreen is passionate about vocal music and will continue to focus on educating the whole singer to include healthy vocal production and music literacy. She is excited about being a part of Reed Music Studios and continuing to share her joy of singing with her students!
