Jordan Cox- Clarinet and Saxophone Instructor

Jordan grew up in Baraboo, Wisconsin where he played saxophone and raced motocross until he left to pursuit studying saxophone at Luther College. At Luther, Jordan studied both clarinet and saxophone, in addition to the flute, and bassoon; he was fortunate enough to tour with the Concert Band to Iceland and Norway and tour with the Jazz Orchestra to Brazil.

After college, Jordan began an instrument repair apprenticeship at Melk Music in Milwaukee. While at Melk he apprenticed with Bernadette Gonzales. Jordan also played musical pits for schools, universities, and theater companies. In 2018 Jordan relocated to Eau Claire Wisconsin where he is employed at Jeff Reitz’s Chippewa Valley Band Instrument Repair”. CVBIR is the premiere band instrument repair facility in west - central Wisconsin. Jordan works with Jeff as a woodwind repair specialist.

Jordan has subbed with the La Crosse Symphony Orchestra, Chippewa Valley Symphony Orchestra, Eau Claire Chamber Orchestra, and Chippewa Valley Jazz Orchestra. Jordan currently plays lead alto in Cathy Reitz & 7 Swing (voted 2nd best jazz band in the Chippewa Valley), woodwinds in a jazz trio called Kat & the Hats, and plays in several jazz combos in Eau Claire.

Other performance events of note: On a 2019 mini recital tour in the Dominican Republic, Jordan, on clarinet, premiered Neruda by Pablo Gómez Estévez. In 2023, he served on a committee for Clearwater Jazz and art Festival and organized a super smash bros tournament and video game music event in Eau Claire. Jordan played in Professor Stitch’s Original Baraboo Circus Band on piccolo for roughly 6 years.
