Carol Lombard - Piano Instructor

Carol has been teaching piano since the early 1980s. She received her Bachelor's degree in Music Education from Winona State University in 1986, with majors in piano, viola, and voice, and a minor in cello. Her piano studies at WSU under Mr. Robert Hungerford culminated in her senior piano recital featuring works by Bach, Beethoven, Chopin, Liszt, and Debussy.

Carol also serves as a violist -- in various music ensembles and as an occasional soloist -- at her church, St. Paul's Lutheran in Onalaska. Other musical activity includes informal composing for solo piano, and sometimes for mixed-instrument ensembles. She is considering an invitation by her church's worship leader to compose works for church vocal and instrumental ensembles in the future.

Amid all her musical endeavors, Carol's greatest passion lies in teaching piano. She loves to infuse creativity and game-playing into her lessons with school-aged children. Many lessons end with spontaneous, joyful, teacher-student duet improvisations. She is impressed by her students' inherently innovative musical natures, and watching students grow in their ability to read and create music, playing with expressive beauty and sensitive artistry, is very meaningful to Carol!

Carol also finds much satisfaction with a variety of activities as she enters semi-retirement; providing care for her grandchildren; wrapping up in 2026 her many years of being a homeschooling mother; taking nature walks; watching the wild birds that come to her backyard feeding stations; and hanging out with her husband and children.
