Carrie Pomplun is a flutist, certified music teacher, and conductor from the Chicago suburbs. She received her degree from the Lawrence University Conservatory of Music in 2008, where she studied flute with Ernestine Whitman. While at the conservatory, Carrie was principal flute of the Lawrence University Symphony Orchestra and the Lawrence University Wind Ensemble. She also directed student ensembles and taught flute lessons through the Lawrence Academy of Music. Currently, Carrie is a freelance flutist, playing in weddings, social gatherings, and making recordings. She substitutes in local ensembles and plays with the La Crosse Concert Band. She is also on the faculty for the La Crosse Youth Symphony Orchestra as the flute instructor.
Carrie's studio has students of all ages- young students who have started the flute before band is even offered in school, adults who want to relearn the flute for fun, and everything in between. Regardless of age or ability, Carrie welcomes all new students and assesses their current playing level to come up with an individualized plan for each person. Students get one on one attention and learn aspects such as: Tone production, finger technique, music theory, breathing exercises, memorization techniques, scales, vibrato (for advanced students), and choosing a new flute when the student is at the appropriate level. Students learn in a fun and relaxed environment that allows them to ask questions and enjoy making music. Call or email the studio to set up a complimentary first lesson with Carrie to see if flute lessons are right for you!
New! Ask Carrie about starting students as young as age 7 with a curved flute headjoint, which allows smaller students' arms to reach the keys easier. This headjoint is available to rent for a small monthly fee.
